about me

Hi! I’m Barb.

I think "you're weird" is one of the highest compliments you can give someone. You can usually find me elbow-deep in dirt, nose-deep in a book, covered in fabric scraps or hitting the streets for a walkabout. I am a meanderer, a smeller of flowers, a magpie with pockets full of rocks, a helper; I prefer sunsets to sunrises, paper maps to gps, working backstage to being in the limelight. I save spiders, even when I don’t want to. I am currently braving the wild and wooly landscape of raising a teenager. (If ever there was a distillation of the beauty within chaos, it would be puberty.) I try not to take myself too seriously. Oh, and I’ve a Capricorn Sun, Cancer Moon, and Sagittarius rising.

I believe in service. I believe in authenticity. I believe we are stronger when in community. I believe in snacks. I definitely believe in hugs.

Things that are non-negotiable for me: Trans lives matter. Black lives matter.

If these don't sit well, we won't be a good fit.

I have an affinity for words of the four-letter variety and - while we’re sticking with numbers - 42 was my favorite age (so far). It was the year I stopped and asked: “Is this all I’m meant to be?” The answer was nope, and that’s how we find ourselves here.

I am in the process of becoming.

my path to the stars

I’ve always struggled with balancing two seemingly opposed parts of myself. Capricorn tends to be equal parts business and party: how could one not be, with the body of a goat and the tail of a fish?! For most of my life I was merely woo-adjacent, following my pragmatic nature and letting capital-L life take precedence over the quiet voices of my intuition and inner knowing. Enter the summer of 2020, when I discovered the Astrology Podcast & bought my first Astrology book: a switch flipped in my brain and seemingly overnight I couldn’t shake the sense that I’d come home to something. Much of my studies were self-directed until I took the plunge and connected with the inimitable Sam Reynolds. I'm also a graduate of the STA’s horary practitioner’s course, and am currently focusing my studies on the Islamicate scholars and sages. I count many among my teachers, but am especially indebted to the wisdoms of Ali A Olomi, Diana Rose Harper, Demetra George, Lee Lehman, Austin Coppock, and Jessica Lanyadoo.

I approach astrology with a blend of traditional and modern psychological interpretations: I believe it doesn’t do anyone much good to know about the road ahead if they don’t have the tools to rise up to meet it! I’m still pragmatic about looking for Next Best Steps, as a rock goat must be when navigating the almost-invisible footholds of a cliffside, but now I also revel in bringing deep waters of mysticism and intuition to my life and practice.

the 10 things I always carry

on my adventures

(aka tools in my astro bag):

profections, progressions, solar arc directions, lunar cycles, eclipses, temperament, planetary returns, transits, loving-kindness,

and lip gloss.

My ultimate purpose is to witness and support my clients through their passages. You can expect a mixture of unconditional support and gentle nudges in our work together. I will ask you questions: what you share is up to you. I will give you homework: what you do with it is yours to decide. It is my job to bring my knowledge, wisdom, experience and authenticity to the partnership; it is your job to bring curiosity, courage, and an openness to investigate all the paths that make up the you that is you. I’m led by the mountains in my life: those spaces and people who are watchful, supportive, and unwavering in their presence. They provide the pathways by which I continue to find my footing: I hope to be that for you.

Our consultation is a safe space, where we’ll walk together and explore how the wandering planets manifest in your life, what lessons they may hold for you, and how they can help you to thrive. I honor our differences, and strive to always check my privilege and biases. I hold privacy and security in the highest regard: everything we discuss will be confidential and held with the gentlest of hands. I am here to support you through the beautiful chaos of self-learning. Chaos is not to be feared: it is the fertile soil from which stars are birthed.

Schedule a reading

In order to give you an accurate reading, it is necessary to have your EXACT birth date, time (to the minute), and location. If you don't have immediate access to your birth certificate, you may need to do a little sleuthing! Often baby books, family religious texts, or saved correspondences will have the information.

Thanks for submitting!Your reading will be confirmed once payment is processed and we schedule our session

All readings - with the exception of Horary queries - are one hour and will be conducted via Zoom video conference, unless you are in the Seattle area and really would like to walk and talk about the stars.

You are welcome to record our session for your reference;

I will send you my follow-up notes and any relevant images via email after our meeting.

Readings must be cancelled 24 hours before the scheduled appointment.

If you are more than 15 mins late for a session, you will be considered a no-show & no refunds will be issued.
